This project features bulk earthworks as well as blasting and crushing of rock to be used in the layer works. It incorporates a new 10 000m2 warehouse with 5000m2 mezzanine slabs, 4000m2 cold storage and freezer space. The project is a three floor office block with a new 1000m2 canteen and staff ablutions. It also features a new 800m2 cross dock facility, attenuation pond, electrical substation and an impressive 2000m2 parking.

Stefanutti Stocks Building KZN and Ladysmith Construction formed a joint venture to expand Sumitomo Rubber South Africa (PTY) LTD current tyre manufacturing facility in Ladysmith.
The project, known as “Project Southern Cross” is a 12-month contract which included the construction of 27 individual buildings, ranging from smaller rest rooms and office blocks, to industrial warehousing and production facilities. Included in the project is a variety of roads, as well as external hardstands and water retaining structures, tilt up construction and a four floor, 30 meter high mixer building which required design and construction of 25 meter high staging to support the final deck.
The project size is just under 24 000m2 under roof, with approximately 5 000m2 of external concrete hardstands, approximately 16 000m3 of concrete, 20 000m3 of selected G5 material, 3 500t of ballast, 1500t of reinforcing and 1500t of structural steel which was needed to complete the project.
