The Quarterdeck

WINNER 2: STEFANUTTI STOCKS BUILDING KZN, THE QUARTERDECK RIDGESIDE OFFICE DEVELOPMENT

Lack of lay down area for this project, meant that a self erector mobile crane had to be utilized in place of a larger tower crane. This proved challenging as the south easterly winds often reach speeds considered dangerous for it, meaning that on most days, hook times were limited to mornings.

Due to its unique design, conventional concrete columns were replaced by IPE steel beams on the parameters, this necessitated that parts of the structural steel roof supports, be manufactured and installed as concrete works were being completed. Building of the off shutter proved a further challenge as walls were not only splayed, but splayed in both directions. Included in the walls were recesses for aluminium windows complete with drips, all cast into the panel.

This high quality building was delivered on time and within budget.
